The Party aims to secure political, social-cultural and economic emancipation of the People of Somalia; promote, protect and defend their fundamental freedoms and liberties; assure socio-economic justice; promote and advance sustainable economic development and the wellbeing of all the people of Somalia.

The Party stands for good governance, Federal unity and patriotism, integrity, justice, equity and equality, democracy and non-discrimination, federalism and resources sharing, sustainable development, transparency and accountability, protection of the marginalized and dialogue.

TUSMO is founded on the ideology of Social Democracy and its tenets of social justice, fair and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities, protection of civil liberties, functional literacy and education, quality and adequate health care, social welfare and security for all, the rule of law and constitutionalism.
